The Proposal
About a week before, Adam asked if I wanted to do something special to celebrate our two-and-a-half year anniversary. Of course, I never turn down a date; so he suggested we have dinner somewhere on the Plaza in Kansas City. Immediately, I became very suspicious. However, we hadn’t gotten to celebrate our two year anniversary, so I did not jump to conclusions.
That night, we drove to KC and ate at the Cheesecake Factory. (The main picture on this page is us standing in front of the fountain at the restaurant.) We had massive amounts of food…and leftovers. It was a perfect dinner. After we ordered dessert, Adam said, “I have a present for you!” and held up a large jewelry box. I have to admit, I was worried that was the way he was proposing to me. It just didn’t seem creative enough for Adam. However, he gave me a beautiful diamond necklace. Of course, after that I assumed it wasn’t happening that night. I did not think I was quite spoiled enough to receive a necklace and a ring all in the same evening.
We then drove home. When we got to my apartment, Adam got Buddy (our dog) and took him outside like he normally would. When they came back in, Adam said, “Go jump on Mom,” which, again, is what he would always do. This time, however, Buddy was even more excited than normal. When he jumped on me, I noticed he had a box attached to his collar. I instantly went into shock. Adam got the ring out of the box, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him.
It was perfect. Adam completely threw me off track. He’s so sneaky! And incorporating Buddy made it even more special.
