Practice Makes Perfect

by mindy at 7:40 PM.

Our rehearsal dinner site has (finally) been set! Finding a venue for this ended up being one of the most difficult tasks I've encountered during our wedding planning, but I am glad to say that I was able to cross it off my list. So, after practicing how to become husband and wife, our family and wedding party will be dining at the Alvamar Country Club.

Here's a link to directions from the church to Alvamar:

Handcrafted with Love

by mindy at 8:26 PM.

One of my most recent wedding projects has been making our invitations. I knew I wanted to make our invites because it gave me an excuse to pull out all my scrapbooking stuff and be creative. I have to admit, I didn't realize how tedious of a project it would be. However, I've really enjoyed creating each individual one. They won't all be perfect, in fact, each one will be a little different. But in my mind, that makes them more special. So, if you get an invite that has our monogram just slightly off-center, just remember: it was made with love. Here's a pic of my workstation mid-process:

Don't mind the Victoria Secret catalog in the back. Just some inspiration for the honeymoon.

And the Beat Goes On...

by mindy at 4:52 PM.

Or should I say, the wedding planning goes on? With just a little more than six months until the wedding, I figured it was time for an update.

First of all, we have made so much progress on everything wedding-related. Here's a brief list of all the tasks we've completed:

  • Selected and booked a photographer
  • Selected and booked a videographer
  • Selected and booked reception DJ
  • Selected and booked ceremony musicians
  • Selected and booked a florist
  • Found and bought my wedding gown and headpiece
  • Picked out bridesmaid, candlelighter and flower girl dresses
  • Found and purchased teal shoes for bridesmaids and candlelighters (this was a huge task...)
  • Selected and reserved attire for groom, ushers, father of the bride (and groom), and ring bearer
  • Designed and started making wedding invitations
  • Picked out our menu for the big day

And I could go on and on...we're ahead of schedule, and that's just fabulous. All-in-all, I haven't been stressed about wedding planning at all yet (knock on wood). We did run into a second glitch when trying to book our rehearsal dinner venue, however. So, that's our next big step, finding a new venue and booking it.

Oh, and probably the most exciting accomplishment we've made: BOOKING OUR HONEYMOON. That was Adam's main task, and he accomplished it with flying colors. So, the week after our wedding we will be relaxing on the lovely beaches of Oahu, Hawaii. Now that it is booked, however, Adam and I just want to go to Hawaii right now. Especially since Kansas weather has been teasing us with Spring lately.

So, that's our update. I can't believe how close the wedding is getting. I know the next six months are going to fly by!
